The rule of three is everywhere. Our country was founded on the principles of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” and there is the American standard of “mom, baseball and apple pie.” Your communication strategy is no different. Nonprofits and businesses can benefit from having a fully integrated communication system that uses blogging, social media and email communication.
You simply can’t reach everyone the same way, at the same time! If you feel like you struggle to stand out from the pack with your customers, donors or other stakeholders, here is our rule of three for communication, because they are so accessible and affordable!
Blogging—Good for you if you blog regularly! (If you don’t, give us a shout.) When you do, make sure you are adding a call-to-action at the end of your posts to invite reader to comment and easily share the content via social media. There are many blog sites that easily integrate into your website if you don’t already use a platform with a blogging feature.
Newsletter—An email newsletter is an additional touch point to keep you top of mind with existing customers and colleagues. It should offer tips and tricks that benefit your audience, links to your blog posts and point to your social media platforms. This drives more traffic to your website, while also increasing your blog readership.
Social Media—Looking to boost your social media engagement through integration? Try launching a social media contest or special offer with giveaways. Announce the contest through your blog site and promote it in your newsletter. When promoting over social media, develop a specific hashtag and boost the posts to increase engagement.
